Although in all fairness this growth has for the most part been controlled, and the town still has the feeling of a small village with few, if any, high rise buildings. Both are very good and have entertainment for kids. . The town is also home to some good shops, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. Public transport around all of the east coast is not good, so you may wish to consider car hire if you want to see more of the island. For six days, you can listen to the finest jazz music and participate in many more activities. On this wonderfully preserved island, you can enjoy the unspoilt landscape, visit the Castell de Cabrera and snorkel in the beautiful, crystal clear waters. From here, you can easily enjoy all that this beautiful island has to offer. Excursions to the nature reserve are popular, as well as to the surrounding forests for both beginners and advanced riders. Low-rise buildings and cobbled streets give the place an authentic flavour of Spain, while the swish marina, with its resident superyachts, adds a dash of glamour. Although most visitors to the area are on traditional package holidays, many of the tour operators now consider the transfer from the airport to your chosen accommodation to be an optional extra, which in turn is leading more people to make their own arrangements for the journey by either pre-booked hire car, or alternatively by one of the many taxis from the ranks outside the arrivals hall.

There are beaches for all tastes and quieter areas for those who prefer a more relaxed break. This is a pine fringed cove with a small but crowded beach. No matter which of the beaches you choose, it will be perfect for a swim! Also certainly worth a mention are the fruit and produce markets which are held at nearby Santanyi every Wednesday and Saturday mornings. But aside from that, the water is shallow and calm, so the beaches are very child-friendly. The first runs between Cala d'or and the bay at Cala Egos, and the other runs between Cala d'or and nearby Cala Esmeralda.

You can rent boats of all kinds some without a license and even get your yacht master license here. The journey for those who have chosen to drive is fairly straightforward for the most part, although not especially scenic. If this is a cause for concern, we strongly recommend that you make arrangements for a pre-booked taxi to be waiting for you, and clearly specify at the time of booking that a child seat is needed for the journey. Overall the resort of Cala d'or should appeal to most people. This is a good place to pick up some locally made pottery, but be prepared to haggle for the best bargains.

Be warned though, Es Trenc is popular with nudists and the bodies that you do see are likely to be bare. So, unless you are prepared for quite a long walk, or a daily ride in the tourist mini train, you may be isolated in whatever half of the town your chosen accommodation lies. May and October are often a little cooler, but still offer visitors some glorious sunshine. The town is not very big but at first it may be a bit confusing to find your way between the beaches and the the town centre. Paths lead to the beaches through the park, which makes for a relaxing walk. After dinner, the town is excellent for an evening stroll.

There are no tall buildings, and the white houses are well-maintained and lovely. The two biggest beaches are the central Cala Gran and the northern Cala Ferrera. Throughout the day, and well into the evening, there are also two mini road trains that run around the resort. You can use the Mini Train to get around. The sea is still warm and the day time average max temp is around 27'C.

Cala d'or is a modern purpose built resort that has grown from a small traditional Mallorcan fishing village, and now covers an area of over 4km of small sandy coves and creeks. From here the Ma-14, Ma-4016 and Ma-4013 roads will take you the final few miles into the centre of the resort. Even the hotel construction was strictly regulated to ensure this charming character was maintained. In addition to beautiful spots for snorkeling, there is also the option of scuba trips with one of the dive centres. The quays are lined with restaurants, bars, supermarkets and banks. September is considered a very pleasant month and is often favoured by couples at this time of year.
