I would love to go back and explore more options. I suggest giving them a try!! My boyfriend the Chit Cat French Toast, which the name alone suggests this is something grand enough to make a signature. This spot had what I needed. A beautiful view, whimsical sculpture, a jammed parking lot. The inside of the restaurant alone is enough to draw me back in again and again! The decor of the diner is amazing amd everything appeared so clean. Management definitely needs to work on servers knowing about allergies and available menu items.
While my daughter was looking in the case, I saw an employee sitting in a chair off to the left. They keep getting better and better. A Sunday drive brought us to the site of the former Eagle Rock Diner. We ordered a ton of food-sampler platter, buffalo chicken sandwich, potato skins, nachos, Belgium waffle, and a cheesesteak. Now, a fancy new diner sits on the site of the Eagle Rock. This chit-chat terminates in a hearty laugh, all at the expense of the husband. Great for large parties, families, kids, business lunch, blind date meet here!!! I had the chorizo hash and thought it was good.
That could just be user error chose a bad dish but I'm not sure I'll be back to try something new. Came here with anticipation as the former Eagle Rock Diner was very deficient. My daughter was mesmerized by all of the wonderful and captivating statues and decor. The menu has enough diner favs and some other offerings, but it's not the massive diner menu some may crave. Either way, we will most likely be back in the future. The Bodybuilder meal egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, multigrain bread sustained my appetite and musculature. It wasn't worth the money at all.
The only thing I really didn't like was the coffee. Our server was a friendly dude and even split our sandwich in half and put it on two plates and gave us two sides of fries because he knew we were sharing -- all without us asking, which was excellent and very much appreciated. The steak was butter soft and came with cheese grits and toast. I don't care how nice a restaurant is decorated - No one should ever feel in any establishment the way I felt at the Chit Chat diner last night. Fifteen minute wait for a table. Nor did I know that there was any thing of eloquence in my chit-chat. My biggest complaints, and a reason why I knocked off two stars is that it's quite pricey for a diner. I had the Nutella-bacon French toast. I know I'll return here since I live nearby and I recommend it for the most part as long as you stick to basic things. I hope this letter of chit-chat will not reach you at a wrong moment. We ended up ordering their sampler appetizer, soups, and salads prior to our meal and we were satisfied.
I also saw one at the register to my right and I caught glimpses of employee after employee as they walked by. We moved in the direction of his home, and he gave me the chit-chat of the day. We have gone here a couple times. Very rich chocolate, walnuts, whipped cream, just the best touch to end our meals. It's got a large parking lot and the back looks right out to Manhattan.
The sandwiches and sampler were good as well. That's unfortunate because we really liked it here. There was clearly a lot of thought put into the look. It was pricier than we expected for a diner, but the quality of food was great. The décor definitely makes for good conversation if the conversation books at the counter aren't enough. Sixty bucks for two egg dishes and a mimosa? Dreaming of trespassing in the Orange Quarry-I collected minerals. Friendly server who brought our food right out.
They start you off with olive bread and oil, which was a nice touch. The chicken fingers were slightly below average, grilled cheese was fine, and Nutella bacon French toast was undercooked and soggy- I would recommend getting the bacon on the side as opposed to inside the bread. Two things you will rarely see in my reviews. I would skip any of the coffee drinks in the future. I thought this place was super cute and a step above the basics usually found at diners. A critique of the bathroom and the price. I think I just ordered the wrong thing but the buffalo chicken sandwich just wasn't impressive.
Welcome to the ShrimperZone forums. Parking is tight but easy access off of 280. We kept it simple with one breakfast order bacon and eggs and one appetizer chicken tenders. Delicious food that any traditional diner might have but better tasting in terms of recipes, better quality and options. We will likely continue driving the distance for Tops, but it's nice to have this diner now open 24 hours for when it's a late night food run. Our server, Mike, was very attentive and gave us food updates and drink refills when necessary.
