Behind the bar was a small pool for folks who wanted to cool off, though it was more for plunging than active swimming. This is the most un-welcoming hotel I have ever stayed in. I also hoped my might score me an upgrade to a higher-category room. To be eligible for the 5x Membership Rewards ® points, you must both reserve and charge the travel purchase with the same eligible Platinum Card ® or Business Platinum Card ®. One of these was The Barcelona Edition, now likely to be one of the last five-star properties to open until the ban is lifted.

The Barcelona EDITION

We went here twice during our stay, was moderately busy and a great time. As I mentioned, breakfast was included with my rate. The menu here was Latin-Asian fusion with dishes like hamachi tostas with aji amarillo and sweet potatoes, abrui squid causas with avocado, cilantro and yuzu, and vegetable gyoza. On the first floor, the Punch Room was a swanky cocktail bar like the one at the London Edition. The hotel design is sleek, modern, gorgeous.

The Barcelona Edition

As Titanium members, I'd say the amenities and service were on par. This would also allow me to cancel my stay up until a few days before, if I needed to. To boot, I'm now the proud owner of a drawing by Martin, one of the bellmen, who made it for me after a conversation about how much I enjoyed the Picasso Museum. The location was excellent for walking to various parts of the city. Service was very polite, helpful, and attentive.

The treatment of their guests, and especially their elite status guest is a shameful 1 star experience. The Punch Room on the first floor is not to be missed. New Kid in Town: The Barcelona Edition

Three room limit per Card Member, per stay; back-to-back stays within a 24-hour period at the same property considered one stay. Food and Beverage Like other Editions, this one was meant to be as much a space for public enjoyment as a hotel. From Initial contact where they flatly stated their upgrade policy for lifetime titanium elites which is in direct conflict with Marriott Rewards terms and conditions, to the check in and room assignment process it was a shameful and disappointing experience. The Barcelona Edition

When we first arrived our room was not available. Upon checking out we learned that our room had actually been demoted from the class we had book and they lied to us about the type of room that we received. Aside from breakfast, I chose not to stick around the hotel to eat. The most eye-catching feature was a yellow-felt billiard table that was the center of the action when I poked my head in around midnight. The free WiFi was excellent and consistent. For lunch and dinner, the menu includes an interpretation of Mediterranean specialties complemented by a regionally focused wine list including more than 30 wines from local vineyards. Recommendations for paella and Catalan cuisine were excellent during our three day stay. I used a water glass to make a larger cup of coffee, since there were no bigger mugs. They all seemed genuinely excited to be working there and eager to help guests, myself included, with everything from luggage to suggestions where to eat and shop. This hotel has one of the most comfortable beds and sheets I've ever slept in. It was right off the elevators, though I was not bothered by other guests coming and going during my stay. No two cities are alike; Why should our hotels be? If anyone on our team wouldn't recommend an offer to a friend or family member, we wouldn't recommend it on The Points Guy either. The response again was to wait while they checked with housekeeping. On the other side of a dividing wall, a striking, white spiral staircase led to the first floor, where the gym and the Punch Room bar were.

On the first floor, the Punch Room was a swanky cocktail bar like the one at the London Edition. Its location in the heart of the old city is a real asset, as are its charming staff members. During lunch and dinner hours, you could get fancier things like grilled endive with foie gras, and lamb leg with tonnato sauce and Sicilian capers.

THE BARCELONA EDITION

The bathroom was tiled in marble. The city center hotel features 100 guest rooms, a signature restaurant, state of the art club and lounge, bespoke cocktail bar, rooftop bar, outdoor pool and fitness center. The main restaurant was Bar Veraz down in the lobby. The hotel does not charge you for admission if you are a guest, I honestly cannot tell you if they charged others coming in. I parked my car in a nearby non-Marriott lot as the hotel was a bit hard to find small sign, Spain aesthetics , and went to check in, but I wanted valet just to make life easier.
