Ah, I'm hoping this wears off soon. The acetone on the cotton ball removed the polish without any stains on my nails, but it did stain my skin. The formula was smooth, creamy and was able to easily reach full opacity within the 2 coats. Do you have a favourite Essie shade? Thanks for the great review! Some neon polishes can be on the thinner side, requiring several coats. It's gorgeous given the proper skin tone. The shift is more prominent within the bottle versus whats translated onto the nails.

Hi, I enjoyed your review on these great Essie shades. I do appreciate me a good red and typically lean more towards blue under toned reds versus this orange under toned red. It is creme-jelly so 3 coats is best. In my swatch photo's I wore it on it's own as theres something really chic about white nail polish. My swatch shows Smoking' Hot applied in 2 easy coats, paired with 1 glossy coat of Essie Gel Couture top coat. Once I painted the two colors on my nails, I stared at the two colors side by side long enough to conclude that Fifth Avenue is a teeny bit more orangey. The color is orangey red appearing to look more orange in artificial light and more red in daylight.

Now looking at my nails in daylight the color reminds me of geranium flowers. I'm not sure if all Essie polishes are like this, but this one was a bleeder. My swatch shows Fifth Avenue applied in 2 easy coats, paired with 1 glossy coat of Essie Gel Couture top coat. The shift still shows on the nail but it's not as strong as what's seen in the bottle. It's vibrant, bold, classy and chic all at the same time! It is a true, beautiful red that flatters all skin tones, fingers, and toes. What's the color of the month for December?? I've never had this happen before, so I'm not sure if maybe the amount of acetone on the cotton ball was too great, which made the surface of my nails very liquidy, thus, resulting in running polish getting into the small cracks around my nails.

Red's will never go out of style and will forever be such a classy shade! Of course don't feel limited in wearing this shade only during the colder months, as it would be perfect all year round! In the end, it covered perfectly within 2 coats. But I really love red polish, and I really want a bright red to work, so I found myself on fifth avenue. Perfect formula, fast drying, really smooth and opaque in two coats. Using a white base colour underneath neon nail polishes helps to amplify the vibrancy of the neon polish. This white shade is pretty vivid versus being a dulled out kind of white! I personally lean more towards dark shades like this and I can definitely see myself wearing it anytime of the year!.

Upon applying the 1st coat, it was a little shear and started thinking I might need 3 thin coats. The only shame is that I feel I shouldn't spend my day working but on an exotic beach with a fruity coctail on hand! I have Smokin Hot and I love it!! My swatch shows Dressed to The Nineties applied in 2 easy coats, paired with 1 glossy coat of Essie Gel Couture top coat. Whatever the case, it's not pretty and it's not fun! You can see below, the faint pink around my cuticles on my pointer and middle fingers, and also near the tips of my nails. Regardless, a very beautiful shade and something I can definitely see myself reaching for multiple times! Let me know about other Essie dupes in the comments below! But it would be impossible to tell the difference unless you examined them close enough. With the use of a white base underneath, you would only need 1-2 thin coats depending on application and of course the formula of the particular neon nail polish being used. Overall, I really enjoyed the shades that were sent to me and I would have to say Dressed to The Nineties is my absolutely favourite! If I had to choose between the two, I would have to go with Hip-Anema only because I found the formula to be a bit thicker. I then painted my last two nails with Fifth Avenue so the colors would be side by side.

Second up would have to be Smoking' Hot - actually, it's a tie between those two for 1st place! This is even after washing my fingers using a nail brush and soap. Having applied 2 coats I can still trace the edge of the flesh underneath the nail. Side by side, these two colors are pretty much identical. Three days later it is still on my nails with no chips! I absolutely love this colour and think of it as quite unique. This shade is absolutely stunning and love the green-blue shimmer shift! I was impressed at how quickly and evenly it dried.

I put on one coat very quickly before rushing out one night without expecting much. If so, I'd love to hear your favourites down below! No streaks, quite opaque but not very creamy. Great for Fall and Winter months! I find the formula to be a fantasist consistency; not thick and not too funny - the perfect medium. Highly recommended if you dont already have a red with orange undertones. I think I have to agree that dressed to the nineties would be my number one pick followed by a tie between Smokin Hot and Faith Avenue.
