He declares for House Bolton in order to counter any Stark force that Sansa may muster after escaping Winterfell, and witnesses Ramsay kill Roose. She returns to Highgarden shortly afterwards. Brienne and Podrick reach the North and take shelter in a nearby inn, sending Sansa a message to signal for help should she need it. Beric and the Brotherhood harry the Lannister army, focusing on protecting commoners.
