But not a problem with this one. If you have a large room a pair of Edifier powered monitors does a better job for the same price. As I noted, the Onyx 1 is for reference. If you play the speaker on full volume, it will drain the battery faster. The Bose is definitely last place in the bass frequencies. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing that a bluetooth portable speaker can deliver such low and chest thumping frequencies, which is awesome for certain genres: mostly dance and pop music, but when it comes to musical clarity and warmth it leaves a lot to be desired, for some crazy reason Harman Kardon decided to go with one big woofer and a single tweeter to handle the whole musical range, coming from the 4th generation of Onyx which I believe had at least 4 active transducers and 2 passive radiators putting out a very balanced and warm sound. Strong bass and treble, and a flat midrange.

I did try to cheat a little with the Bose by putting it on a surface that would allow it to act like a bass transducer. The one thing to consider is that it cannot be pair with any of the older versions of the Onyx Studio speakers only to another Onyx 5 speaker. Was thinking about getting the Bose Sountouch 30 but this speaker but after doing a thorough research I found out this wireless speaker does it for less than half the price of the bose! It also has the smallest footprint. Keep in mind this number is based on medium levels of usage.
