I'm sure for regular use with plain paper the ink would last much longer. The cartridge is easy to install and last a good while depending on many uses it goes through. In little more than a month the color ink isn't working. The printer should still work with 'incompatible' cartridges, if they are good ones. Has stopped printing in red - meaning the magenta primary color is not mixing with the other color to produce red.

I believe this cartridge is defective, but based on the time frame, I am not eligible for a replacement. This has happened on the last two cartridges. So, I know I could not have used up the color. If you are printing a lot of high-density photos, graphs, or other things that leave little white space on the pages, you might consider enrolling in Instant Ink. .

The printout from the new printer are just as good as from the older one. I can't return it Amazon said I'm past the return period so, I won't be buying my ink from Amazon again. The inks in the cartridge do not dry up, usually, the nozzles get clogged with dried ink from non-use or protective tape on the contacts that might affect the proper functioning of the ink cartridge. I tried various printer suggestions for cleaning the printer heads, etc. If they don't last long, it could be that there is a problem with the connections between the printer and the cartridges.
