We were extremely satisfied with what we chose though. I went over and pointed it out to the waitress again. Menu including prices for iSushi may have changed since the last time the website was updated. The chashu and egg didn't have any flavor either. It was very busy, and the service was terrible, I don't mind busy and I don't mind waiting for a good experience, but gosh, It's a Friday night, you're a sushi joint, at least smile. The fish tasted bland and it was difficult to differentiate the types when the salmon didn't taste much different than the tuna.

However, disappointment sunk in when I tried their sashimi. Came here on a Saturday for lunch and it was pretty empty. There were other items on the menu that definitely seemed quite out there and unique -- some of them I would love to try the next time I come back! Both of these dishes were underwhelming. If you are just looking for nearby sushi, you are better off going to a cheaper sushi bar that isn't trying to take advantage of the higher profit in California. The scallops looked clear and translucent like raw scallops are supposed to look but she kept insisting that it was cooked. Her soup and the sauce for her tempura was so bland I was waiting for Gordon Ramsey to storm the place.

Prices are medium-high, so be aware of that as well. We were both adequately full and we loved everything we tried on the menu. My favorite for the night was the ankimo. Pass on the regular food. Once the rolls came out, I noticed that one of the welldone rolls had raw scallops in the center.

You may not like here if you prefer more personal space. So if you're coming with a large group, make a reservation. For mains, we ordered the tonkatsu ramen and the cold soba. The designer rolls are very good - soft, fresh, and each ingredient's flavor is prominent. We also got the sake tasting, which I really enjoyed. I live a couple of hours away and come any chance I get. I partly resisted writing a review all this time because I didn't want to reveal it to the world it's small.

However, we were able to walk right in on a Friday night and were seated at the bar. Everyone is really nice and the service is great as well. The rolls looked a little smaller and the prices seemed steeper than other places I go to but they did not lack in flavor and I surprisingly got pretty full. Maybe there's not a lot of Sushi places in Castro Valley, which maybe explains the prices. When having to choose from a large selection of customized rolls, it can be tricky knowing what you would and would not enjoy. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself is pretty dark so it's hard to get any good pictures of the rolls. That being said, I'd still recommend giving it a try for the creative rolls.

It's a hole in the wall in the middle of a great plaza, but has a very authentic feel on the inside. This place is smaller than I imagined but thankfully, there was room for us at the bar when we stopped by. Unfortunately our trip was so bad we cannot give more than one star. The place was so packed. Highly recommend : My wife and I came here for an early dinner after seeing some really great reviews for this place.

We chose five rolls from their extensive menu. They should be ashamed of themselves This sushi spot was such a great find! I quickly flagged down the waitress and she said yes that roll is supposed to have raw scallop and walked away. I love the presentation of the food and everything tastes really fresh. I even tried adding the onions and grated radish. Their portions are no joke.

I tried this place out with my buddy. Don't forget to end your meal by checking in on Yelp which grants you a scoop of their delicious green tea ice cream. Everything is made in front of you. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered one roll, soba, ramen, and a glass of sake. I knew it wasn't cooked but just wanted to see if she really was going to risk my pregnant wife eating the raw sushi just to save the restaurant time or money. Prices subject to change without prior notice. The restaurant is tiny, so finding seating can be a challenge if the place is busy.

I had a wonderful experience when I went for dinner at I Sushi! I think this place is only great for their specialty sushi and sashimi dishes. Not bad, not great but it definitely satisfied my sushi craving. Our plate was also really dirty, you can see the grease smudges around the outside. Unfortunately I can't remember the names because they're so creative, but I asked the server which roll she recommends that has a little bit of everything in it and she pointed these ones out. The good reviews on here must be from people who don't eat much sushi or have never tried good quality fish.

My wife is pregnant so we had to get a few welldone rolls on the menu. There were others that just didn't seem like my cup of tea. She then went to check with the cook and came back saying yes it's cooked - the scallops are pan fried but not tempura style like it's supposed to be in the menu. The server was a bit abrupt and didn't seem interested in talking about the menu with us when we were being inquisitive. I looked at the menu again to double check and yes it was in the welldone section. We had 5 things and everything was really tasty photos included.
