Sure there were points where I was empathizing with the characters, but at no point did I really feel as though I knew them intimately. This is a great story that is told over about 60 years from Europe to America.

The entire book is written in a kind of rat-a-tat-tat style that I found off-putting. We all know the phenomenon; an obsession, a never-ending fascination and a desperate need for more. I can still remember sitting on my parents couch I Remember Reading You Like It Was Yesterday!! Some of the connections were predictable, but I didn't care. But I have to tell you, I seem to be alone in my assessment of this book from what I can tell.
