It is owned and run by two brothers, one of whom is on-site most of the time. Another popular tourist attraction is the Fløibanen Funicular. The airport bus and the railway station are just a short distance away. Our hotel and restaurants, as well as our conference facilities, with their unique character and central location, make for an out-of-the-ordinary experience. The Hanseatic Hotel will appeal to those looking for more than a standard A4 hotel, and who wish to spoil themselves in attractive and charming surroundings. We have retained the wharf style and architecture, and the old timber walls have been preserved in several places.

I for one would recommend the Hanseatic Hotel to a first-time visitor to Bergen for the location and for the fine service and accommodations. While the location was second to none, ideal for exploring beautiful Bergen, this also meant it was quite a noisy spot - our room overlooked a giant air-conditioning unit on an adjacent building which stayed on throughout the night. We have invested all our expertise and passion into creating this high quality hotel, situated at Bryggen in Bergen.

The weather was poor on one of the days of our visit, and we mentioned that we'd probably come back to the hotel restaurant for dinner. The Hanseatic Hotel is not your 'standard' hotel. Perhaps the best aspect of this hotel is its location, just behind the Hanseatic Museum on the Bryggen waterfront. It took a good bit of pulling in the evening to get the windows to close properly and even then we could still hear quite a bit of noise from outside. It made up for this with a lovely quirky building with mostly excellent staff and a super breakfast. In fact, as we found out, he was just being truthful.

In the event, we were not disappointed here, and give the hotel our highest recommendation.
