In the one-shot, Komi's eyes are her main focus, she could speak openly but it is either short or very long , Tadano has a different motivation for why he became normal, and the chapters are more focused on only the two of them working out Komi's issues rather then Komi's quest of making friends. However, only Hitohito Tadano, an exceedingly average schoolboy assigned to the seat next to hers, is able to have the opportunity to discover that, behind her appearance, Komi has serious issues in communicating with others. Komi doesn't even notice her. Her Masochistic streak was also dropped in favor of the running gag that she has the biggest boobs out of the girls.
After Tadano clears up the misunderstanding that Manbagi was offended at him for calling himself her boyfriend during the , they both relax and start enjoying the festival together. . Komi gets the top prize anyway, just by choosing at random. Funnily enough, out of all people, Agari is a member. Later chapters have her characterized as a food critic that seems to be a longtime patron of every single restaurant in town even ones that just recently opened. She is depicted with cat ears when startled or excited, her friends buy her a cat plush and she even goes to a cat cafe at one point.
Entry into the school is based entirely on a student's interview, with the school viewing personality as the most important aspect of a person. Of course, Komi isnยt actually physically unable to speak, just heavily restricted by her disorder. It was Tadano's number that was first registered to her mobile phone, the one she bought after entering high school. Her dream is to overcome her communication problems and make 100 friends. The only ones who can't are either people who are obsessed with Komi, like most of the student body, or people who seem to completely ignore it, like Najimi. . However, her attractiveness and stoic appearance which in itself results from her anxiety is perceived as refined class, making her highly popular while preventing people from actually getting to know her.
It ties in with her appearing aloof and stoic, but really being curious and affectionate. In his segment of the Oban, this is apparently true of every single male in his family. As far as I'm aware, the one-shot is identical to the first chapter of the official manga, but I may be mistaken; this review treats it as such, so I apologize for any confusion and will gladly revise this if anyone knows of a different chapter for this title. However Shousuke really is just aloof and dislikes talking to people, while Ai really is a delinquent. Hitohito Tadano is just your starting his first year of high school.
At one point she watched a fireplace recording from Christmas to the day after New Year's without realizing the time. They're included as Komi's friends, but they don't have much focus and are mostly just there in the background. It's a normal school, though. One of the fears of Tadano regarding Komi's goal is that due to the quirkiness of the students, she might find making friends there particularly difficult. He's also so good at reading the room and people that he's pretty much psychic. Tadano is the one who dared where no one did, and as such, he is her first and very best friend. Even in this short one-shot, the audience watchers as the other character, Tadano, comes to understand and communicate better with Komi.
