As anyone that has lived or toured norway knows, everything is expensive and having worked here for a couple of months I am getting used to it, either way this meal was worth every penny. If you have a limited menu, you cannot take that number of dishes off. We went here after it being recommend to us by a local. Still, no argument that this is a top fish restaurant. We went on a Sunday night as we had walked past and having read the reviews, it looked perfect for our last night in Oslo. The halibut in truffled vanilla sauce sounded strange, but we ended up ordering it twice! The dinner hour then began and our server approached our table and asked to move us to the bar.

It's boiled, and either their cod is not the cod I know, or it loses its flavor when boiled? To add insult to injury, the staff was clearly annoyed that a group of 18 took an hour to divvy up the bill. The waitress disappeared after the third dish and we found out that she did not know that we still had 2 to go. That being said the service at Lofoten is quite poor. I've been to Lofoten on a number of occasions. The food at Lofoten is world class. Lofoten pride themselves in serving the best fish and seafood the sea has to offer. Oysters on half shell were fresh, and tasty. For dessert, we selected a light summer dessert of fresh berry sorbet accompanied by sliced strawberries, diced fruit and a rich and creamy vanilla pannacotta with a caramel sauce drizzled on the plate.

I had a great time chatting a little bit with the very charming Sorene, who was tending to me at the time, which made the wholw experience even more memorable.
