Mazda cx-30 review

Can I use it as a family car? The compact crossover is clearly based on the Mazda 3 model. On the other hand, Mazda 3 offers astonishing interior design. However, a tall passenger sitting behind a tall driver may find legroom a little restricted, and the transmission tunnel is quite high, limiting legroom in the middle seat. Expect it to weigh in around £2000-£3000 more than an equivalent Mazda 3 hatch. Furthermore, there are detailed descriptions of safety equipment, features, production changes, recalls and common faults or problems.

On hilly roads the auto gearbox keeps the engine in the higher reaches of the rev-band, spoiling its otherwise impressive refinement. This crossover comes with a premium 12-speaker audio system as standard. The modest torque of the 120bhp SkyActiv-G means progress is a little lacklustre, with 11. Mazda seems to enter its glory years, having developed a series of technologies — especially the Skyactiv-X — that will most definitely make it premiere choice for an increasing number of customers. However, the interior lacks some uniqueness.

All petrol engines feature mild hybrid technology using an electric motor and a 24V lithium-ion battery mounted between the wheels. Mazda is just following the current trend as we already saw similar moves from Nissan and Jeep. All of the gasoline engines will be mildly hybridized. A lot of work went into making the interior as roomy and comfortable as possible, for both the people driving in it and the luggage they carry. Unless you need the taller ride height or slightly bigger boot, the Mazda 3 hatch does all of this and handles a little more tidily, too. That includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and pedestrian detection.

The bodywork is all new and subtly different, with a more practical rear third to go with the rugged-looking black cladding that lines the sills and wheelarches. Mazda introduced the all-new crossover at the Geneva Motor Show. Shorter because Mazda thinks this makes it easier to manoeuvre around town, which is where all of these things will live, and taller because, well, crossover. It's a lovely place to sit. At the Los Angeles Auto Show in late 2018, carmaker Mazda presented the new Mazda3.

Mazda promised great ride comfort and high level of comfort. Interior Offers Great Comfort The interior will come with so many hi-tech features. Does all of this sound good to you? And at the center of it all lies a 8. What about the Skyactiv-X engine? The dashboard of the model features a secondary, wing-shaped hood in its upper area, while the wide floor console is used to house the gear lever, cup holders and commander control. Looks similar too, though different enough from the standard hatchback to make it a worthwhile item. Materials are strong and high-quality, switches operate satisfyingly and are logically laid out, and the new 8. It certainly feels less breathless than the Skyactiv-G engine.

Automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, blindspot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, lane-departure warning and lane keep, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control are all standard. Not quite as crisp as the 3, but not too far off. Reviews, being by Selecting a Make in the navigation pane on the left. Interior room is ample for such a compact vehicle. All-wheel-drive setup will be optional.

It's available with a range of Skyactive petrol and diesel engines, including Mazda's recolutionary Spark Plug Controlled Compression Ignition technology - said to combine the free-revving performance of a petrol engine with the fuel economy of a diesel. The former comes with fabric or leatherette upholstery in greige or black, while the latter comes with a scheme of black or white leather, with perforations in the upholstery that reveal a brown interior liner. The rear window pillars are quite big — it might not be as obstructive as in a Mazda 3 hatchback, but it darkens the rear half of the car considerably. The regular petrol is smooth and well insulated in town, but it lacks any real punch, as Mazda continues to avoid sticking turbos on its cars. Information is relayed back to the driver via the Active Driving Display and the meters. This sedan is offering a 2.

The steering is precise and generously weighted — the latter point many crossovers blindly ignore — and the manual gearbox has a very satisfying shift, courtesy of a rather stubby gearknob. We applaud Mazda for going against the grain, and forging ahead with normally-aspirated petrol engines. Mazda will offer two color schemes for the interior, Dark Blue or Dark Brown. It fires into life with the gruffness of a diesel, and settles into a more petrol-like hum eventually. Would you be shocked if we said it was a lot like the 3 hatch? It is larger than the subcompact vehicles but smaller than the compact models. Take that, premium German marques! Ride and refinement are good, too, with a generally softer ride than a Mazda 3 hatch. But there really is no end to the list of rivals this new car faces; the , , and more line up against it.

The crossover also gets an auto high beams and forward emergency braking. Thanks to this system, the engine delivers great performances and improved fuel economy. The latter assists with accelerator, brake pedal and steering operations when stuck in traffic. Other than that, though, this car uses the same platform as the 3 and is being launched with the same engines: a 114bhp 1. The compact crossover will offer a front-wheel-drive system as standard.

While it revs freely — something Mazda has put considerable effort into making a characteristic of its whole engine range — the lack of torque just makes this 2. Pedestrians and cyclist were of particular concern, and a new energy-absorbing inner structure was developed for the hood to lessen the force of the impact with the head of the victim. Mazda has tried to keep things as simple as possible in terms of managing all this tech, with the high-res central screen controlled by a simple rotary wheel on the centre console. Exciting as it was in itself, the model became even more so as it embodied the revised and revived design philosophy of the Japanese. We like the clean design with small creases on the hood and to the sides.
