A cloudy Friday will give way to late evening snow flurries and snow showers, especially north Dodge and Sauk counties. The cloudiness will help keep our temperatures within a respectable range of 25-30° for overnight lows, which is a considerable warmup compared to last night. After a couple of days of nearly steady temperatures, Thursday saw readings climb a good bit. Monday our attention turns to another developing low pressure system. There is a high level of uncertainty as towards where the low pressure system will track. Little to no accumulation is expected. Some models take the center of the low over Illinois, which would mean southern Wisconsin would see an all snow scenario, whereas other computer guidance takes the system further south near Missouri, which would mean a complete miss here in the Badger state.
Teens can be expected for daytime highs Sunday with lows in the single digits for parts of Southern and central Wisconsin. This will likely kick the lake-effect snow machine into gear off of Lakes Superior and Michigan. By Sunday, a stronger northwesterly wind will be prevailing. Lows early Thursday morning ranged from the upper single-digits, to the low double-digits. Another arctic high pressure system will develop Sunday, which will bring with it a rapid decrease in temperatures. With the southerly wind persisting for another 24 hours, lows early Friday morning will surround the 30-degree mark, with highs Friday topping-out at around 40. Southerly winds pushed the mercury into the 30s during the afternoon.
For us, that means some scattered snow showers or flurries will be possible as highs retreat into the 20s. Tonight we will see drizzle wrapping up around the evening commute, with clouds lingering through the night. This is something we will monitor over the coming days. . Sunshine will be expected through the day Sunday as well. We may even see a few flakes of snow, or drops of rain, during the day. A few peeks of sunshine will be possible Friday, but it will be back to mostly cloudy conditions for Saturday.
