Full It's been almost a month since I read this and I'm still unclear how to voice my feelings toward this book. I guess I did even though the main purpose of the book is to contradict everything about romantic movies. Kaikki ei kuitenkaan mene niin kuin elokuvissa. I loved how the author seemed to analyze every part of romantic movies and compare them to reality. Not only is it enlightening to a young audience it's also hysterical with some of the best metaphors I've ever read! I'm so sorry for never writing a decent review on this book and not being able to now. Niin käy vain elokuvissa valottaakin mielestäni aika mukavasti kaikenlaisia ristiriitatilanteita, joihin nykynuori saattaa joutua.
Currently crying as I type this because I just loved this book so much. This book was good and sad at the same time and well written!. So I jumped straight into this one, hoping for more of the same. The book I will not, physically can not, shut up about ever in my life. Especially the ending was a part I really liked as it was quite surprising but fit the story very well.
That ending made me feel so bittersweet. She starts working in a movie theater and that´s when things start to change. I loved the representation of realistic feminism. His obsession with filming was endearing and he had a good group of friends minus one. I wanted less of the romance and the build up to the romance , and more of the female friendships and Audrey dealing with her family issues. . Read this passage for yourself and let it open your eyes if they already have not been. It made me root for Audrey and Harry much in the same way that Audrey fell for him. My personal favourites are any of those ones with playing a foppishly dashing leading man! That wants to be respected. I knew about it but it never intrigued me. I had to get out of here.

Annnnd if you are like me, and typically like romantic, cheesy to a certain extent , happy endings that give you closure, this is still a really really good book because there are obviously different types of happy endings. Honestly I'm so surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Without showing you the happy fluffy side of things only. Something many girls would relate to.
There were two possible endings and I absolutely loved the one she went with. About what is and isn't okay. . It talks about how the pervasiveness of rape culture undermines our romantic relationships at every step. And those were almost entirely lacking here. Audrey is tired of romance movies after her parents dealing with their messy divorce.
Because the distance from Harry that I felt as a reader kept me in the dark about him for the entirety of the book, Kept me second guessing his true feelings and motivations. Both have some hidden secrets of their own that over time, start to be revealed as important life decisions have to be made. . The way she writes feminism into her books is always a winner and her humour is so brilliantly British. . So all of the feminist side of things was great. Seriously, what was I doing? Don't get me wrong, I still liked it.

Those are the questions that the leading character in this book, Audrey, asks of herself and of us the readers. There are so many laugh out loud moments and wonderful gems of quotes and passages that I would love to share but I think it's best to happily stumble upon them as you read this book for yourself. Audrey's interactions with her female friends are fantastic.
