And now for what I dislike about it: The book goes by really slow, so slow that I thought I'm on 40% in when in reality I'm already 80% into the novel.
Ceony wasn't happy with this at all as she didn't see any use to being a paper magician. This book looked so good at the beginning; the characters were likeable and the magic idea was amazing. I don't care for the main characters. The ending of this was a relief, and I was so glad that the book ended at 96%! How many others had she judged and set aside like that, thinking them no more than a one-sided piece of paper? Run away, or face what she fears, despite her greenness, despite her status as an amateur folder. But I can't help but notice that sentence is all about the guy too.
Ceony wanted a teacher, she's got one. Those tedious chapters were all a waste because you find out what happened without them. Overall I am really impressed and I recommend anyone who needs a light and clever fantasy read. It was different, and I think it worked well. I mean, I have read owners' manuals for lawn mowers that were more entertaining than this.
We follow Ceony as she begins to learn the basics of being a Paper magician. But I was quite enthralled with all the world building regardless. . My favorite character was Mg. There are a few As this series seems to be set in an era somewhere between the Victorian and the 20's , the romance element is more. The first 25% before the plot shift seemed to drag a little bit.

Ceony must slap together everything she has learned and try to save his heart.
