My feet will be hurting if I wore these for an extended period of time. Overall a fantastic boot, well done Sorel. I don't mind that so much because I think they would soften and give after some wearing. Sorel makes amazing quality boots and I'm glad I purchased them while I could. Size up and you have a winner! They required no breaking in at all. Simple and not too rugged or manly.
I usually wear an 8W, but an 8. In my opinion, I wouldn't fear going a half size or full size up on these boots -- they aren't bulky, so I don't think they'd make your feet look too large. I am going on a trip to Ireland in June and can't wait to take these boots along! I head over to Sorel and found them even cheaper. Because the leather is so soft and supple, yet firm, I expect that in due time I can put the insole back in. I also wore them on a trip to Japan and they were nice for going out at night, and great for hikes as well. I am very happy with my purchase.
You should probably size up if you are planning to wear heavier socks. Rated 5 out of 5 by Katie99 from So soft and beautiful I just got these last week and wore them one day, they are super soft pigskin leather, and really comfortable. They look fantastic with jeans, dresses, tights, everything. I was worried about choosing the right size but I believe they true to the size. I could not get my foot into the boot without significantly crushing and ruining the heel cup. This seems to be a problematic design for my ambulation. The boots themselves look to be well-made, but the sizing is considerably different than other boots by this company.
I would suggest going a half size up from the largest shoe size you typically wear, as a 9. Rated 5 out of 5 by SoYou from Great travel shoes I wore them on vacation in Europe for more than a week right off the box. Even took my measurements, which landed me in between a 10-10. However, I was not able to walk all day with these boots. So I'd say skip them if you have wide or maybe even regular width feet, but if your feet are on the narrow side, order your normal size, maybe go a half size up like I did if you want to wear them with thicker socks. I'm 5'11, so I don't like or need a lot of heel.
I ordered and sent back about six different styles before settling on the Sorel Phoenix Zip. I received my boots scuffed up and with one of the tags on the back of the boots sewn upside down. I feel they are true to size. Sorel was my go-to brand for this. I typically wear a 8.
. They are true to size and width was a perfect medium. . I love the look and the rugged sole and how crazy comfy they are. There was over stitching on the toe where the side met the tongue area.
My boots finally arrived, they are gorgeous and well made and the foot bed is very comfortable. Not on the inside of the boot, on the outside where it can be seen. Construction is of good quality and the boot has enough moto ruggedness without being too heavy. The hardware is less intense in the gold color in person. I'd opt for a little too snug opposed to a little too wide. I have on dress socks and my toes are toasty.
Right out of the box I could wear them for hours 12 hrs to be exact , And my feet were absolutely comfortable. . My big toes pretty much touch the end of toe box. They are stiff boots so I don't see them having much give in them if I keep them. I felt like an idiot, but I do wonder if this shoe gets tried on with the very stealth toe insert in place with many people. I'll be doing all my boot shopping here from now on as long as the quality remains great.
I am going on a trip to Ireland in June and can't wait to take these boots along! Rated 4 out of 5 by Warrior4fashion from Love them but The boot is extra cute but runs half to a size small, let make your feet look smaller. Gorgeous, trendy boot, but still practical. I am excited to repurchase. Sorel, if you make an additional version of this Phoenix Zip boot with a shaft about 5 inches higher so that it could be worn in deeper snow, I will buy it. I even tried a half length insert to prevent said toe mashing, but then the instep was still too loose.
