The nose is quite citrussy and zesty.
And I like Glenlivet 12, but only buy it on sale. But the big disappointment was that it is now bottled at the bare minimum of 40%. And the price offers good value. Note to people not experienced, some whisky has peat, some none and some a little. Maybe a bit of rubber.

The taste of sugary almost like candy corn not very oily no Pete but typical speyside single malt. Anyway, the bottle I bought is dominated by the flavor of anise. I am utterly baffled by people giving this 5 star reviews. That's cheaper then most places sell Jack which tastes ok but not great and is is headache juice since they cheaped out and started doing 3. I would definitely buy this whisky again, I'm thrilled to have found it. This is my night cap, never a hangover, never feeling like crap the next day. The first batch was produced just in time for the Queen's Jubilee, and was a great success. . If u want whiskey that makes you think of mexico, then prepare yourself because once u sip this it will feel like gold falling from the sky, but if youre looking for scotch, then uve found it it will be written on the outside of the bottle and thats about the only place it will be. Use an acceptable drinking glass and always drink responsibly.

Despite several changes of hands, the distillery and its methods have largely remained unchanged except for the closing of its drum maltings in 1967 and the conversion to indirect steam in 1962. First of all it's actually bottled at 43% Abv which gives it points in my book as well as a little more depth and flavor. This Scotch deserves more admiration for the oak n citrus. I just made a pretty passable Rob Roy with it. I instantly liked the sweet smell that was soft on my nostrils.

Really don't understand the snobbery in some of the comments. I thought the citrus nose with vanilla, sugar, and fresh cut grass was ok, but the taste did not impress me much. I bought it to top off my bulk order and try something new. It starts harsh and finishes harsh. .
This and Old Pulteney 12 are well-kept secrets, I almost fear talking about it : My rating of 5 stars is based on value. Quite pleasing on the palate, initially appearing a little mild, there is a nice smooth creamy flavour to be had once aired a little, what it lacks in absolute complexity makes it a nice dram for grazing along with through the evening, enjoying the subtle flavours without the 'burn' of a more intense malt. The Head Distiller at Speyburn should hang his head in shame for allowing this God-awful crap to be put into bottles. It seems they use some sherry barrels now in the aging. . How on earth can they knowingly produce this? The finish is almost non-existent.
I picked this up out of a curiosity for exploring less expensive bottles. It's not the most complex or unique malt, but it's full-bodied. Production was scheduled to start on November 1, but the owners didn't manage to get the stills running before the middle of December of that year. Would I buy it again however? I actually feel that it is smoother than the aforementioned brands. .
