An Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed Thursday night in Assam. The fighter jet's blackbox was recovered on Sunday by teams comprising the Army, the Air Force and civil administration personnel. The two pilots flying the fighter safely ejected from the jet and were rescued. The Tezpur Air Force station is 172 km from the China border. Local people rushed the two pilots to the Army Base Hospital in Tezpur, he said. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident, official sources said in Delhi.

The two pilots - Squadron Leader D Pankaj and Flight Lieutenant S Achudev - could not eject at the time of the crash, according to the analysis of the jet's Flight Data Recorder and some other articles recovered from the crash site.
