After receiving the lens I took some pictures and it work as advertised. But once they have developed for the Nikon and Canon mounts I think we will see more. Current as of October 2012. I strongly suspect that they'll do the same with the 70-200, and hopefully with a 16-35 or wider. Violations may result in a ban. Nice bonus and excellent quality too. Physically easy to use in manual focus mode even if hitting focus at over 200mm itself is anything but easy. The refractive index describes the ability of the lens to split a light beam into its spectral colours. That's good, because that was why I bought the lens! It has let me shoot very tight, sharp sports photography with professional grade results. Kids, pets, moving vehicles etc, this is good enough. The Tamron lens shows superb image quality when focused and the copy of the Sigma lens is a total disappointment showing problems in its optical design and quality control. Tamron customer service was great, could not ask for a better experience.

To be clear, I am using this Pentax compatible lens with a Pentax Kr. The Canon is a bit sharper wide open but other than that the two lenses are pretty identical in performance. I suspect that we will see more mirrorless designs from third parties, especially since there are new comparable cameras on the market that they will likely be able to adapt the designs to. Google this lens and then click Videos and watch the comparison between Nikon and Sigma and this gets great reviews. Which one is sharper and is there a differences in focusing speed? This lens isn't nearly pro in the focus department. I'd also like to know if there is difference in focusing speed and accuracy between these lenses? The rounded diaphragm affords the photographer spectacular blur effects, delivering the kind of rich expression only achievable with a high-speed telephoto zoom lens. I have no complaints about the picture quality, it is a great improvement from most of my prior lenses. This lens does not have vibration reduction don't need it on a K1 cuz the body has it. Even with the bodies listed above, its not perfect and will hunt with certain glass or even freeze the camera from time to time. If you are looking at the Sigma for the K1, beware, sigma may need to reprogram the lens to be compatible with the K1 even if it works on a K3. I have found it good enough for most of my purposes. It was one reason I was excited about the new cameras even though I am keeping with Sony for the foreseeable future. Andy Day is a British photographer and writer living in France.
