I bought this for my toddler's afternoon quiet time once she no longer wished to sleep, but I needed time to myself. . Some of our students have liked to watch the sand timers as a reinforcement to complete a task. The hourglass came well packed. We use the smallest timers for when our kids forget to say please, they seem to remember better when they know they'll have to wait an extra minute to ask again if they don't ask politely the first time. Since the timers are the same size the children don't notice the time difference.

I don't know if they're all this accurate, but I consider that to be outstanding for a sand timer. It's survived a fall from 6+ feet onto carpet, and who knows what else in her room. Very fine sand, almost difficult to see the line of falling sand. . I spend a lot of time at home sitting at the computer working and thought this would be a useful item to place on my desk next to me to remind me to take a short break every hour. . I ordered the 1 minute, 2 minute, and 5 minute timers to use in my special education preschool classroom. These are great for getting my daughter ready for school in the morning.

5 Minute Timer

I selected this one because the price was right and it looked like it would do the trick. They are great for kids to be able to look and have a visual of how much time is left. . We use the 2 minute timer for brushing teeth, and the 5 minute timer for getting dressed. Easier for her to understand than a clock, and better than a timer that beeps when it's done she usually doesn't notice and will stay in her room longer, yay! The first time I turned it over I timed it and it ran out at exactly 59:55 an amazing five seconds shy of an hour.

About the only complaint I have is the brown sand is not as easy to see as some other colors might be, but I was pretty sure that would be the case when I ordered it. I really like that all the timers are the same size because I have used them to get my students to complete a task and I can easily start with 1 minute, and gradually increase the amount of time I require a child to do a task as they get better at it. Sitting on my desk it is surprisingly elegant. . . . .
