I swapped that out with a replacement from the set of 4000K ones I had ordered before I returned them. One point deducted because a few holes were tapped badly, causing the grub screws to really struggle to go in. I had thought this would be just something my 8 year old and myself would play with, but when my 4 year old saw them she also insisted on participating, and both did great. I went ahead and ordered a set of the 4000K versions to see if they'd match. For the price I'm honestly really pleased with them. They are cast, and I don't think they're aluminum, but they are sturdy and had no signed of wanting to snap yet. Box is really just large enough for fixture leads + 2x14.
It must have had a faulty voltage regulator inside the junction box. I was very satisfied with how they turned out. . That was a mistake, because those were truly 4000K Very blue. They work pretty darn well.
Heads up, these are warmer than 3000K, for sure. Contractors: Great to work with - each unit comes with light, box, wire nuts. Slid right into the 2020 extrusion without a problem, so they're sized really nicely. Came in much higher quality than I was expecting. The tool makes it easy for even youngsters to secure things, and their random play with the various brackets showed me some neat ways to use the connectors that I wouldn't have imagined by myself. That said, it wasn't enough to cause an issue and if I had a better allen wrench I might have been able to get it the rest of the way in. My wife said to just deal with it.
For the price I don't know what more you'd want. So warm, in fact, that they didn't match any of the other 3000K lights in my house. I'm a home improvement contractor and so I find myself in a lot of homes working with a lot of different types of lights. Using these to create a framing case for my 3D printer. Some still have edged that need cleaning but they come right off with a deburr tool. Otherwise, these are absolutely great. .
