This is a very interesting concept hotel that is good for single or maybe two people at most rooms. That's all i need out of a hotel, not any additional bells and whistles. The bus to Aker Brygge harbor, a busy tourist destination, takes about 15 minutes. The entire street is torn up and the jack hammer noise is deafening in the a. But it's clean and cleverly designed. The bed was just so-so. The prices seem staggeringly cheap when compared to more formal hotels in Oslo.
All come with reading lamps, desks, chairs, pegs on the wall to hang clothes, and free Wi-Fi, and overlook the street or the courtyard. The other drinks were cheap but we didn't partake. I'll definitely stay here again. Citybox Oslo Hotel is set within walking distance of Old Aker Church. Also within walking distance is the Oslo Cathedral, Parliament of Norway, and Oslo Opera House, all less than 10 minutes away on foot. They provided hair dryers and extra towels immediately upon our request.
Overall, we loved this place and would definitely stay here again. It was not a bother to me as far as the hotel goes and i know that is out of their control, but it made it a bit uncomfortable and sketchy by drawing all sorts of weird characters out front late at night. As others have said, check in was easy. There is no hotel front desk here, just a small office where there is always an employee available to help with any questions or needs. Seemed comfortable when hopping in, but by the morning my back was stiff and in pain for a bit. As far as the room itself, it was very clean, so that's a plus.
As an added bonus, there is a mini kitchen downstairs which had a fridge, hot water machine and microwave. Super convenient location just a few blocks from Oslo central train station where I caught my train out, also a lot of restaurants and convenience stores nearby as their are other hostels around so plenty of cheap places to grab a bite and some refreshments. In the early morning, we passed some working girls on the way back to our room, but frankly, they were more completely dressed and way lower key than the club kids we saw roaming the pedestrian mall! Overall, this is a well priced budget hotel in a central location in an extremely expensive city. The room had a pretty Scandinavian design.

We were given our keys, greeted by the host, and up to our room we went. Super like the floor mat throughout the whole hotel and room, it seemed to be more hygenic than the fluffy carpet. Oslo Airport is 35 minutes away by train, or about a 40-minute drive. That was my first experience with citybox, and it almost made me leave.

This saved us a ton of money since we could make our coffee there at the hotel for free and stored some breakfast and lunch items in the fridge, which we purchased at the market, rather than spending excessive money eating out in this city for every single meal. The elevator and check-in kiosks broke on the night we arrived. With mod furniture, cool lights, and plenty of art, the vibe is hip, and clientele ranges from budget-conscious travelers in suits to backpackers. The wifi worked great, no problems at all.
