No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. This family owned and operated winery produces some of the best values in our portfolio. On the palate, the wine is very smooth and well balanced with the right amount of acidity. The nose is classically Syrah, with berry fruit, violet, and liquorice. At this quality level, it is amazing that the Jaume family produces nearly 10,000 cases.
Smooth, velvety, pure and even. This family owned and operated winery is located in Lirac and produces some of the best values in my portfolio. It's beautifully concentrated, has remarkable purity, and a stacked mid-palate. A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah; traditional garrigue, red fruits, very structured. The top Cornirets cuv茅e comes from 60 year old Syrah vines grown on granite soils. They produce one million bottles of this.
Certainly, the wines are breathtaking at the upper levels, but the Perrin family continues to put effort into the entry-level wines as well, from the Coudelet de Beaucastel, which is always one of the top C么tes du Rh么ne wines, to the other wines reviewed under the Famille Perrin heading. Medium to full-bodied, rich and beautifully textured, it tastes more like a Chateauneuf du Pape than a Cotes du Rhone. The growing season had even temperatures and little rainfall. Grenache-based blends from Priorat often include Carignan known locally as Cari帽ena and Syrah, but also international varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Overview Established in the northern part of Ch芒teauneuf-du-Pape, the Jaume family has been making wine since 1826 when Mathieu Jaume started harvesting grapes.
Indeed, many a bargain C么tes du Rh么ne will develop and improve in bottle for five to 10 years, especially when they come from well regarded terroirs lying just outside the more prestigious appellations. This method, carried out by hand in summer, provides optimum sun exposure for the best clusters and enables the winery to be selective on both quantity and quality of the grapes. Since 1979, Alain Jaume has run the Domaine, now with the help of his two sons, S茅bastien and Christophe, and daughter Helene. For whites, Grenache blanc, Clairette blanche, Marsanne blanche, Roussanne blanche, Bourboulenc, and Viognier, with a maximum of 20% other white varieties are permitted. Round and smooth tannins present through the full bodied, ample wine. Henri and Claude Barruol took over in 1957 and gradually moved Saint Cosme away from the bulk wine business.
Review: The 2016 C么tes du Rh么ne is a winner. The aromatic range of the nose goes from fresh berries wild raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry to spices. Closed stainless steel vat fermentation with frequent pumping over maintains the temperature at a constant 29掳C. Wines made from this blend typically have aromas of stewed plums, black cherries, blueberries, black olives and even a hint of spiced dark chocolate. Accessible already, it could hold through 2022. New and older French and American oak was used for the maturation of selected wine parcels over a period of 13 months. Red ruby colored wine with violet tones; well-balanced, black fruit, vanilla and coconut flavors.
Always one of the vintage's finest C么tes du Rh么nes, it comes from a large, morsellated estate property north of Ch芒teauneuf du Pape. Tasting examples from appellations Cairanne, Lirac, Ventoux, Rasteau, C么tes du Rh么ne and Ch芒teauneuf-du-Pape in the Southern Rh么ne, it is immediately evident that the reds have an amazing fruit intensity, a density without heaviness, allied to a freshness and ripe tannic structure that gives the wines exquisite balance. On the nose you will find plenty of fruit aromas, well balanced as well as some reminiscences of spices that are appreciable. Grand Veneur Cotes Du Rhone Les Champauvins is made of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre Intense, brilliant garnet-red colour. Currently in organic conversion they should be certified within the next years. Regardless, the quality here is superb across the range.
Crozes-Hermitage can be considered the gateway to the red and white wines of the Northern Rh么ne Valley. Primary aroma of flowers and stone fruit. Mouthwatering aromas of red fruit and spice lead the way, backed by a full-bodied wine that's creamy and lush but also silky and vibrant. The Domaine dates back to 1826, having been founded at that time by Mathieu Jaume. They produce the following A. The 2015 was a star, yet we are extremely excited about the 2016.
Black cherries, blackberries, peppery herbs, and ample spice notes give way to a medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, lengthy beauty that shows the quality of this great vintage. Beautifully juicy red fruit that has effortless purity and ripeness. Sweet and energetic on the palate, offering juicy cherry, blackberry flavors and a spicy jolt of cracked pepper. In the Northern Rh么ne, 2016 is a more classic and restrained vintage compared to 2015. Note: the estate bottlings are released under the Domaine Grand Veneur label, and the negociant wines are released under the Alain Jaume et Fils label. The palate is big and full-flavoured, with silky-smooth tannins and aromas of the fruit already mentioned.
Louis Barruol took over from his father in 1992, making a dramatic shift to quality, adding a n茅gociant arm to the business in 1997, and converting to biodynamics in 2010. The old, oxidized, vegetal offerings have been replaced with classic examples of Provencal wines that are fresh and fruity with ripe tannins. Medium-bodied with lovely density and richness, light tannin and a savory mouthfeel, this beauty can be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years. Located in the northern part of Ch芒teauneuf-du-Pape and run today by brothers Christophe and Sebastien Jaume, the estate produces a quasi-modern style of Ch芒teauneuf-du-Pape their Les Origins and Vieilles Vignes as well as a growing number of negociant based wines from throughout the Southern Rh么ne. The 2012 whites from the Jaume brothers are incredibly strong. Made from 60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne and the rest Marsanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc, it gives up tons of Viognier character in its white flowers, peach, and pineapple aromas and flavors. The average yield is around 2.
