I thought this point system was totally messed up and very inconsistant. Can anyone explain to me how this bonus point system is fair at all? Not many people were over. For every 8 recoveries 5. Not many people were over. Then they explained the point system to me and then I felt like leaving the league. For every 3 key passes 6.
It now means that researching shots on target can add further power to picking the best forward players. I just think it is too gimmicky. Everything else was pretty standard. Haven't been able to rid either league of them so I'm obviously in a minority. Why not add 10 points for a 100 yard rushing game and 10 points for a 300 yard passing game. We voted against bonuses for 40 yard plays.
This year we changed the point system so that no points are awarded for attempts or completions but still. His two successful corners would be rewarded and he would be punished for conceding a goal. So if the bonus for both yardage conditions is the same, then there's no stacking. I have never liked bonus scoring, like 3 points for 100 yards rushing. This is more in line with the weighting of normal points.
Honestly, I think any kind of bonus makes a league much more random and less up to skill or knowledge. I don't like bonus points for whole day milestones. I need some people to weigh in on the issue so I can either show them they are crazy or realize my own insanity. Further work Only two games have been analysed for this article as the process is time consuming. That, getting back on topic, was a bonus that was a bit outlandish. I called it the Cedric Benson rule. I just think it is too gimmicky. Why should 100 yards be worth 3 more points than 99? My local league gives 3 point bonus for 100 rushing or receiving yards, 300 passing yards, and 8 or more catches.
In other words, what about all of the sharks on this board that say the only way to go is with decimal scoring? Note, Hazard and Pedro had been substituted when Giroud scored, so they would not be punished for the goal. The bonus based on the length of the scoring reception is interesting. I also suggested that they get rid of that one yard buffer by making each yard after the bonus point worth more. Adds to the excitement of watching the long pass sail down field hoping for that 12 point play. Also liked the way we gave bonuses - essentially - for longer scores. But, I understand why some folks like to stick strictly to the metrics of rewarding production on the field without the bonuses.
However, if anyone has any requests for other games to be analysed then I will be willing to do so. It reflects the likely hood of players in each position scoring a goal. This is a mess to read. I've been doing this for 12 years now and I fully understand that you have to pick your players based on your league scoring system. With a few minor changes it could be improved and award bonus points more appropriately. It's pure luck and too gimmicky. Local league still uses the old Miller Lite system, bonus points for distance td.
