Using subterfuge, misinformation, disinformation, and an analytical knowledge of human nature to help lure a suspected murderer into a false sense of security and possibly make him carelessly over-confident, L sometimes gets what he wants through abnormal or possibly criminal channels. Ryuzaki turns down J's offer because one of L's biggest regrets was that Watari had to die, so Ryuzaki will not make the same mistake. After all the calls fail, Ukita attempts to barge in the station, only for him to somehow be killed. After confronting Light, he embraces this anger and allows it to control him. When the two rejoin the rest of the team, L reveals that he is planning on testing the thirteen-day rule, the only thing currently absolving Misa. Even after being corrupted by the Death Note, Light continues to show a willingness to protect his family.
Sidoh sees the address and goes to find Mello. As the Death Note takes effect, Light informs her that he is Kira and watches as Naomi walks away to commit suicide, tauntingly yelling after her how he could easily contact his father now, with her only feebly returning that she has nothing to say. On April 27, 2015, revealed that would direct the film, that Lin, Lee, Jason Hoffs and would produce, and that Niija Kuykendall and Nik Mavinkurve would oversee the studio. Light tries to convince him that he is not Kira, but L does not believe him.
