The Zuul replaces the built-in noise gate from the Nameless and is based on the Fortin Zuul pedal. When we learned of this, we knew we had to collaborate to bring his vision to the world. I used a number of fuzz plugins with great results. We present you, Archetype: Plini. Bad pickups can cause inconsistencies and weird spikes in various areas and in my case it was the mids and so when I increased the mids in the plugin for a modern cutting tone, it exposed the poor signal even more while also exposing the lack of low mids in the pickups.

Fortin Nameless Suite

They have been created so well that they could have easily been released as different products without anyone feeling short-changed. It sounds great in a mix and reacts nicely to the way you play. Amp features State of the art tube amplifier modeling and versatility are the backbone of this plugin. The Nameless was a snarling beast of an amp but I know many wished there was an option for cleans. One thing that I really liked across all three amps is the power that can be unleashed by backing the main output down and the volume on each amp up. Better pickups go a long way and can be found used on a really low-budget.

His uncompromisingly built tube amplifiers are coveted by some of the most notoriously discerning players on the planet. Lead ups the gain but still retains the natural feel and overall tonal qualities. Whether it's multi-instrumental stints in Periphery, engineering some of the most breathtaking audio productions, or even capturing the perfect drum tone, everything Nolly does is executed with absolute precision and a seemingly obsessive commitment to excellence. The multidimensional reverb offers a huge, beautiful sound that takes you to wide and narrow dimensions with the Space and Time controls. For the white crunch amp and the black hi-gain amp, the internal cabinet works as good or better than most impulse responses.

We wanted to try something different this time, so we worked with Plini on designing his dream amplifiers, engineered from the ground up to perfectly cover the vast dynamic and tonal range his music requires. This is a different animal. Add some delay and reverb for some stunning ambient tones. When I used it with stock Ibanez pickups, the response was much different across the board and the plugin sounded hollow and thin. Encompassing over a decade of experience engineering some of the most devastating bass distortions on the planet, Parallax provides everything you need to design the ultimate bass tone.

They have changed the background to white but everything else is familiar. The Nameless is probably the ultimate amp plugin for pure brutality. Equally at home for rhythm or lead playing, this is an incredibly responsive amp. The same is not true for the lows, however: the peaks and valleys that do so much for the mid and treble tend to make the low end very problematic in a mix context, which is why the cabsim module only affects the Mid and High bands. Each cab sounds great with every amp and the industry standard mics are all there. This one can also do a number of other high gain tones but I preferred Amp 3 as far as high gain, leads and solos go. I was testing fuzz pedal plugins and I had left one in a signal chain before Parallax.

It can be a more gentle beast than the Nameless was but turn up the gain and it roars. His distinct sound combines an unusually wide variety of styles: progressive, fusion, and metal, all with impressive fluency and elegance. First up, we have the Compressor and Overdrive pedals. On the downside, parallel distortion is a pretty easy technique so before buying this plugin, I would give it a stab yourself first. Yes, twangy, quacky, chicken picking goodness is easy to come by with this suite and with a couple tweaks and clicks, giant sized atmospheric tones with warmth are right there. Rhythm or lead, take your pick! Widely regarded as the epitome of noise-gate performance and transparency! For me, the white amp is the crown jewel of this suite.

What I can say however is that they all sound and respond really nicely. I suggest watching how much bass you dial in with the pedal as all four amps have plenty of low-end to spare. Shopping with big savings is always very happy. There are many YouTube videos that explain parallel compression, distortion and saturation for those that wish to do it on their own. This plugin is designed so that anyone can get a nice mid-driven modern tone to cut through a mix. There is just something special which gives the sound some extra depth and realism.

That says worlds about what that amp is capable of. You really forget you are using a plugin because it reacts so well to the way you play. You get enough low end to smash through a building with the ability to shape your mids and highs with laser focus. Plini Plini is one of the most innovative and refreshing electric guitarists of our generation. Archetype Nolly impresses on multiple levels but there is a slightly lack of warmth and tube character at times. As engineers, we realized that if a similar mindset could be applied to creating a plugin that could cover all the ground such a versatile artist requires it to, the results could be spectacular. These features can be used on both mono and stereo configurations; the latter allows for a second microphone to be added with full panning, microphone-level, and phase parameters in addition to position and distance, for ultimate control and endless sonic possibilities.

The closest I came to a decision was the clean section of a Carvin Legacy but really who knows? What I do know is that it can provide some incredible cleans as well as dirty tones that surprised me quite a bit. The tones are crisp, clear and very full sounding. True, his production skills are top shelf but I felt it was kind of an odd choice all things considered. Here, you feel like each component has been designed to work with the next. The best way to describe the overall tone is warm and organic. So we reached out to Plini to collaborate on a product, knowing that his incredibly demanding standards, good taste, and needs for a tool equipped with everything needed for production and live performing would push us to write a plugin that could not only do it all, but everything it did could be the best state-of-the-art technology can offer. Rock and punk rock tones are accessible without a lot of effort or dialing and the lead tones available cut very nicely without being too aggressive. They also manage to add a little something extra into the sound which takes their amp plugins to another level. And the result is a product just as multifaceted and capable as the artist who inspired it. The modern style of bass can be real tough for beginners or even intermediate home recording enthusiasts to really nail down. Divide and conquer Parallel bass processing has been used for decades. To ensure low-end tightness, the low end of Parallax is designed to operate without a speaker impulse and so by bypassing it, you are eliminating a key feature in the plugin. Parallax has a world of great ways to accent and enhance your low mids rather than relying on a sub.
