Would have been a massive disappointment would this have happened earlier that ride! Also of course because that's where you have some amount of exposed cable that goes in and out of the housing. When I first saw Shimano's offering, I was excited because it offered something that we don't see much of: front derailleurs. Wait, who forgot to string the cable and housing?! And just like a regular dropper, with the button pressed, you unweight the saddle for the post to go up or sit to lower it. I realize that you already know how to shift gears, too, and the last thing you need is help from some gosh darn computer. . It uses a more powerful motor, a completely different gearbox that's more robust, and the derailleur itself gets much wider pivots for more rigidity.
