Yeti SB150 Long term Review

The Ride Photo Credit: Brent Jacoby For the past four years or so, the introduction of new long-travel 29ers has been happening with steadily increasing frequency. Evil bikes are the king of cheating in this aspect, they have the most slacks seat anglesmin the industry 65 but the geo chart says 76?? Doesn't mean I have to hold them in high regard for doing so. I saw a couple of Yetis in real life and it always eletrifies the environment around, people sre looking at them, talkin about them. The filmmakers must be tempted to just phone it in once in a while. We climbed as high as we could and then, after a first burly descent, found ourselves at the top of Bitches Brew, a now mostly decommissioned line.

This is a ticketed, lift assist zone with world class mountain bike trails descending from the top of the lifts. Awesome prices, perfect location and awesome product! Elements are smaller and more complex. Photos: Brent Jacoby As I write this, there are 12 Marvel movies in development that we know about with release dates spanning through summer of 2022. Haven't run a pack in several years even at places like Downieville or other long back country rides. I've had one for a few months and not too many rides. When I rode 125mm I thought it was adequate and was sure I didn't need more drop.

Was that just a reaction to market demands, or was there an increased focus on durability in the manufacturing and testing processes behind the development of the new bikes? And people who can afford this bike most likely will not use it as designed and actually hurting themselves because they probably need a better climbing bike. However, your response shows that people may be missing my original point. They always claim en the chart the effective seat antle, wifh is of course irrelevant. So nice to work with as long as you have clean ends to start with. At first glance, this bike appeared too much for everyday riding. I think if you were setting consistent times before and have kept the tires the same the difference should be mostly the bike. Fatter tires than what will fit in the rear of the 150 would have been helpful on Bitches Brew because of all the square edges and roots in extremely tight quarters; a little more grip and a little less pressure would have been great.

I can remove the upper bushing after unscrewing the cap and the post slams up no problem. You being a fan of Nate Hills tells me that you have found a different connection to the company or a reason to be a fan, and I'm all for it man, absolutely. In the end it all comes down to feel. That being said, I can't ride like that and I'm sure it'd work fine for me. While it by no means constitutes the time we'll put in on it for a full review, I've logged quite a few hours and feet meters of elevation both up and down on a smorgasbord of trails in the valley. Yeti has however become a boutique brand with a price tag to match. While the 150 negotiates these moves adequately, It seems to require a more attentive grip on the bars, inspiring somewhat less confidence.

Oh, and the extender essentially replaces one of the eyelet bushings with a bearing, making for smoother action. Trail type could tip the scales toward one bike over another. Its about finding the best bike i can inside that price range. I enjoy their reviews but yeah, they are often pretty light for some reason. Cam, have you noticed any quirks from the OneUp dropper? I just bought a Santa Cruz Bronson full carbon frame and it wasn't cheap either. I would like to know just how much difference to overall ride it makes. If you're buying a new mountain bike, odds are that you want the longest dropper you can fit in your seat tube.

First Ride: Yeti SB150

Yeti Cycles built this bike with great tunability for a wide range of riding styles and rider weights. Reach 480mm for size large and the 77 degree seattube are no different than the 130. The posts also seem to be durable, well-engineered and reliable so it was time for me to give one a go. As I mentioned earlier, despite a long wheelbase and reach, this is a nimble machine. Later tried a Large Sixer on and it felt too big, I had to tighten down on the helmet too much and the overall shell felt too loose.

So it appeared that all boxes were ticked. I do agree they are expensive and agree with everything you are saying. Your link is to a British site. Other bikes we carry that fit into this category include the Pivot Switchblade, Evil Offering and Wreckoning, and the Transition Sentinel yes, Transition is a new brand for us! Since greasing it more often, I haven't lost any more of the coating. Part of that is its extra 10 millimeters of travel. Not a horrible component set for the price. Yeti and Fox recommend service every 75-100 hrs for dry conditions, and 25-50 in muckier climes.

I was feeling a little shaky after illness and travel but the 150 helped me conquer the steep and rooty line which eventually deposited us on Dreamweaver, one of the fastest trails on Fromme. I'm at a stage in life that I can afford it, not that I'm rich! I don't feel the need for a backpack riding spots that I know don't stretch out too far. Remember, reading things on the internet is great, but the best way to know if you like a bike is to ride it! I now know it's because it was the only 29er in that test nearly 3 years ago, but at the time I deduced that it was just the fastest bike. And we are now seeing a crop of long travel bikes that descend like long travel bikes but handle and climb like shorter travel bikes. Magura also sent us various levers, interchangeable with those fitted as standard, as well as pads with different compounds. On sections of trail where other bikes felt like they were getting bounced around and knocked off line it just keep trucking along, with a smooth, forgiving ride. Had a few too many close calls on those or in several cases, unexpected crashes and went back to Magic Marys, no issues.

Field Test: Yeti SB150

It is really not that hard to figure out. One advantage of short-offset forks and slack head angles is that they encourage the rider to stay in attack position because the front end is more trustworthy. Photo Credit: Brent Jacoby The frame itself got some new hardware updates. I grease it once a month and clean it out with an old toothbrush after wet rides. I guess that makes me a moron in your view but I bought into the 30 mm spindle and this is how I'm making it work. Not sure why Yeti claims it can run a 2. Something seemed to change soon there after both in the company and the people seeking out Yetis, the whole 'Yeti Tribe' thing, and that shaped my view on the brand to some extent.
